Our Flag

Our flag is a very special flag, it shows that we are American.

It has 13 stripes and fifty stars. Along time ago people have only discovered 13 states. So they made a flag that had 13 stripes and 13 stars. As they adopted new states, they kept making new flags. For every state they adopted they added a star. Soon enough there were 50 starson the flag. The flag still had 13 stripes. It stayed that way for the original 13 states.

freedom. It makes the noise that tops all the other beautiful noises. 50 is my favorite number and I am proud.

The Spinning Pole

There have been many updates in the flag industry, but one stands out.

For as long as flags have been flying on house mounted flagpoles, they have gotten wrapped around the pole. This is called being “furled.” Many items try to negate this unsightely display of the American flag: the pole sleeve flag, the unwrapper tube and the neverfurl. They all accomplished the job of keeping the flag unfurled, but none has succeded as easily as the spinning pole has. It’s simple. Attach the flag and let it fly free. The spinning pole has made the un-wrapper tube and the never-furl obsolete.

What makes it so simple? The pole is actually two pieces of aluminum tube that screw together.

One piece has ball bearings in it allowing the top tube to spin. This spinning keeps the flag from wrapping. Simple. The Spinning pole video shows how a flag just spins free. (I don’t know how to rotate the video)

Texas State Flag

The Lone Star state is the only state that has flags in size 30′ x 60′ ready to go. This goes right along with the saying everything is bigger in Texas. At one time, Spain, France,Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the Confederacy and the United States have all flown flags over Texas. They encompass the six flags of Texas. The Texas flag itself, consists of The Lone Star a large white star that was first used on flags carried by Texas during the Texas Revolution against Mexico in the 1830s. It is thought that the star comes from the Bonnie Blue Flag used in 1810 by the Settlers in West Florida. An official flag with this star was chosen in 1839, although during the Civil War, the Confederate flag was flown. The flag’s color blue stands for loyalty, white for purity and red for bravery. Texas State Flag Adopted: 1839 The 28th state, admitted 1845

How to Prevent Premature Flag Failure

Attention Attention Attention

Your American Flag deserves your attention. Watch the corners of the “fly end” for the first signs of wear. Trim off the worn hem and re-hem the end. It’s perfectly proper, and when done promptly and can extend the life of your flag.

High Winds (80 on the highway is breaking the speed limit)

When your flag is flown in high winds something has to give. Common sense should tell you your flag is working to hard. Take your flag inside. Also, wind velocity is higher at the top of your flagpole.

Rain Rain Go Away

The added weight of moisture causes the flag to snap harder and wear out sooner.

High winds and rain can beat some of the dye out of flag fabrics and cause color migration. This can happen to even the best of flags. (If your flag suffers color damage due to storm exposure, prompt washing in a mild detergent may remove the discoloration.)

Time to Take a Bath

Keep your flags clean. Dirt is sharp it cuts fabrics, dulls colors and wears out your flag sooner. Most outdoor flags can be washed. Give your flag a bath in mild detergent and rinse thoroughly. Indoor flags and parade flags should be dry cleaned.

Don’t Wet the Bed

Never store your flag wet. Dry the flag by hanging it neatly and evenly to dry. Wet fold creases are hard to get out and dampness ruins fabrics and causes mildew.

Of Rust and Care

Flagpole care and flag care go hand and hand. Rusty, pock marked poles chafe and tear flag fabrics and stitching. Rust scale can cause permanent stains. Please keep your flagpole in good condition.

How long will a flag last? The correct answer is it depends upon location, weather, dirt, etc. Today,
I would like to answer the question like this. A flag will last for as long as you keep it flying, but when its done its done, buy a new one.

Question & Answer Question: Should I fly a nylon flag or polyester flag? Answer: Depends Nylon is the most popular flag material because it flys better on a slightly breezy day, giving the fullest visual effect. Our nylon flags are made of 100% 200-denier SolarMax nylon, making it one of the longest lasting nylon flags available. If you are flying a nylon flag and it rips and fades at the same rate than you are getting good wear from your flag and it's just time to replace it. However, if your flag is ripping before it fades and your flag still has a lot of color you might want to consider upgrading to a 2-Ply woven Polyester flag. Polyester flags will fade at the same rate as a nylon flag but will hold up better as far as ripping in extreme weather conditions or high wind areas. Because the polyester  flags are heavier than nylon flags, they may not fly as well in light breezes. This is why we recommend polyester flags to people in extreme wind or weather conditions only. Erin Go Bragh Irish American Flag
The popular phrase "Erin go Bragh" or "Erin go Braugh" means "Ireland forever." It's the Anglicised version of the Irish Phrases "Éirinn go Brách" or "Éireann go Brach." In 1847 Los San Patricios (Saint Patrick's Battalion) flew as their standard a green flag with a harp on it (the harp is Irelands Coat of Arms), with the motto "Erin Go Bragh" underneath. Variations of this flag design have been used since, to express Irish nationalism.

1/2 boy 1/2 man

If you read this, you WILL forward it on.
You just won't be able to stop yourself.

The average age of the military man is 19 years.
He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who,
under normal circumstances is considered by
society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind
the ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old
enough to die for his country. He never really
cared much for work and he would rather wax
his own car than wash his father's, but he has
never collected unemployment either.



He's a recent High School gradua te; he was probably
an average student , pursued some form of sport
activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a
steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when
he left, or swears to be waiting when he returns from
half a world away. He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop
or rap or jazz or swing a nd a 155mm howitzer.

He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he
was at home because he is working or fighting
from before dawn to well after dusk. He has
trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him,
but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and
reassemble it in less time in the dark.

He can recite
to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade
launcher and use either one effectively if he must.

He digs foxholes and latrines and can
apply first aid like a professional.

He can march until he is told to stop,
or stop until he is told to march.



He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation,
but he is not without spirit or individual dignity.
He is self-sufficient.

He has two sets of fatigues: he washes one and wears
the other. He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry.

He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never
to clean his rifle. He can cook his own meals, mend
his own clothes, and fix his own hurts.

If you're thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you
are hungry, his food. He'll even split his ammunition
with you in the midst of battle when you run low.

He has learned to use his hands like weapons
and weapons like they were his hands.

He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job.

He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay, and still find ironic humor in it all.

He has seen more suffering and death than he should have in h is short lifetime.



He has wept in public and in private, for friends
who have fallen in combat and is unashamed.

He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while
tempering the burning desire to 'square-away ' those
around him who haven't bothered to stand,
remove their hat, or even stop talking.

In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from
home, he defends their right t o be disrespectful.

Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-
grandfather, he is paying the price for our
freedom. Beardless or not, he is not a boy.
He is the American Fighting Man that has
kept this country free for over 200 years.


He has ask ed nothing in return, except
our friendship and understanding.
Remember him, always, for he has earned our
re spect and admiration with his blood.

And now we even have women over there in
danger, doing their part in this tradition of going
to War when our nation calls us to do so.

As you go to bed tonight, remember this shot. . .

A short lull, a little shade and a picture of
loved ones in their helmets.

or Sailor, prayer is the very best one.
